
Preparing the Regional Planning Guidelines 2010–2022.
The existing Regional Planning Guidelines were adopted on the 8th of July 2004. Revised RPGs are required to be in place 6 years from this date as after 6 years Sc. 27 (5) of the 2000 Planning and Development Act states that they are no longer have legal power. In order to have revised Guidelines in place in time, the revised document should be completed by June 2010.

The Review process involves a number of stages:
We are now in Stage 5- 2nd Public Consultation.
The public consultation period runs from Monday the 11th of January 2010 to Friday the 26th of March 2010 (inclusive). Submissions can be send by post to:

Stage 4
The Regional Authorities for Dublin and Mid-East met in joint session on the 15th of December to consider, amend and agree to place the Regional Planning Guidelines for the Greater Dublin Area 2010-2022 on public display.
Stage 3
This stage took place from April 2009 until December 2009.
Stage 2
Following the closure of the public consultation period the Directors Report on the submissions received was presented to the Members of Dublin and the Mid-East Regional Authority at a Joint Regional Authority Meeting on the 21st of April 2009, held in Naas. Stage 1
The first public consultation at pre-draft stage is now complete.
A short public consultation leaflet and a more detailed issue paper explaining the Guidelines and outlining key issues to stimulate debate and ideas for submissions were published during the first public consultation phase. These can be downloaded by clicking on the links below.

Strategic Environmental Assessment and Habitats Directive Assessment
As part of the review of the Regional Planning Guidelines for the GDA the Dublin and Mid East Regional Authorities will carry out a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and, as necessary, a Habitats Directive Appropriate Assesssment (HDA) as part of the review process. The provisions of Article 10 of the 2004 SEA Regulations shall apply (as amended in Article 15 of S.I. 436 of 2004) and as part of the making of the regional planning guidelines, the regional authorities will prepare an environmental report of the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the guidelines.
