The Regional Planning Guidelines for the Greater Dublin Area (RPGGDA) are unique in the country in that they are the product of the joint work of two Regional Authorities. For this reason, the structure of the RPGGDA is different.
The RPGGDA involves three committees.
The lead committee is the Joint Regional Authorities Meeting consisting of the Council Members of the two Regional Authorities. The Joint Regional Authorities Meeting is a special sitting of both Regional Authorities. Whilst the Guidelines are not in review stage they meet approximately 2-3 times a year, either in the Dublin or Mid-East Region by rotation. A list of members of each Regional Authority who make up the Joint Meeting and minutes of meetings can be viewed on the DRA and MERA websites.
The second key committee is the Steering Committee. This is formed by the Managers of each of the seven Local Authorities and the two Regional Authorities, the Cathoirleath and Leas-Cathoirleach of each Regional Authority and representatives of relevant organisations - The Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government, the Dublin Transportation Office, Department of Transport, CIE, National Roads Authority, IDA, Enterprise Ireland and the Directors and relevant staff of the Regional Authorities. This Committee sends reports to the Joint Regions Meeting. Membership and minutes are available using the link.
Reporting to the Steering Committee is a working group - the Technical Working Group. This Group consists of the Directors of Planning and other relevant staff from each Council, staff from the Regional Authorities, and representatives from the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government and the Dublin Transportation Office. This Group prepare and examine reports prior to their circulation to the Steering Committee. A list of members is available using the link within the underlined text above naming each committee.
